William Steven Bickmore

Lesley checked into the hospital and she was already dilated to a 5. William Steven Bickmore was born at 1:55 at 5'5"and 19" long. He is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Lesley is a champ she only got the "test dose" of the epidural and she was already at a 9. He has a low blood sugar problem so they have him in the NICU now and they are going to bring his blood sugar up. He is healthy and strong but he is a tiny little super guy. We love him and here is a video of his very first test. I tell ya they are starting to test kids younger and younger.

Solution

I've figured out a way to combat the heartburn. 1. Eat extremely bland foods--thankfully apples don't upset my stomach! 2. Eat small portions throughout the day instead of three big meals. 3. If I do feel heartburn coming on, I pop in three TUMS, two Tylenol and jump in the shower. 4. I stand in the shower until the hot water runs out and by then the medicine has kicked in. 5. Go back to bed with three pillows so I sleep propped up. 6. Result: a good night's sleep. All around I am still doing well and I could not have asked for a better overall experience with this pregnancy. I wonder when he'll decide to come? How about a vote!

Jinx!

I should never have said I love being pregnant because this past week, I've been SO uncomfortable!  I have had three sleepless nights over heartburn and last night I couldn't sleep simply because I couldn't get comfortable.  Then at school today, I was in so much pain I could hardly breathe and my eyes welled up with tears.  I heard one of the students say "What's wrong with teacher?"  I went to the office and my head secretary gave me some Tylenol.  That must be the miracle drug, because I felt fine the rest of the day.  I am a firm supporter of DRUGS!  I keep telling Isaac how much I'm looking forward to the epidural when I can be completely numb and not feel pain anymore.   All I know is the reward will be well worth whatever I'm going to experience the next 2 weeks.

Fall Recipes

Sophie started a great tag about favorite fall recipes.  I absolutely love soup in a bread bowl in the fall.  My favorite soup to make is broccoli cheese.  I buy the bread bowls, but of course if you want to take the time, homemade are the best.   Here's the recipe for the soup: 1 qt. of water 2 large chicken bouillon cubes 2 heads of broccoli 1/3 c of margarine (I use vegetable oil because I hate butter and margarine :)) 1/3 c. of flour 1 1/2 c. loose grated cheese Put water and bouillon cubes in large pan and bring to boil.  Cut broccoli into bite size pieces (heads only); add to water and cook until tender.  Melt margarine; add flour.  Stir until smooth.  Add this to first mixture and stir until thickened.  Add cheese and stir in once it looks soft and melty.   IT'S SO EASY!  ENJOY!

Checklist

Here is what we still need to do before the babe arrives: 1. Find a pediatrician 2. Pack my hospital bags 3. Find a diaper bag 4. Buy some nursing items 5. Buy a camcorder/camera 6. Install the carseat 7. Freeze some dinners 8. Fill out my students' report cards 9. Sleep a lot 10. Create a playlist of lullabies

Basketball anyone?

Isaac says I'm hiding an NBA standard basketball in my shirt.  When we took this picture I said "You're right!" 3 more weeks to go!  I am getting super excited and much less nervous.  This pregnancy has not been miserable and I keep wondering if I'll reach the unbearable stage in the last month, but so far so good and as weird as it sounds I love being pregnant!

Voting Time is Here!

We know it's not November yet, but now you can have a little practice before the big day. Tell us who should be the president on our son's first birthday. If you hate all the candidates, hopefully you can find confidence in Isaac to lead the nation.
