The Nitty Gritty

  Will turned 7 months this week! We bought an exersaucer off of KSL.com.  He hasn't quite figured out how to spin it yet.  He turns his head and tries to look at the toys behind him.  Here are some other fun facts about our sweet baby boy: Will likes... 1. Walks in the park 2. The baby swing at the park 3. Rice cereal, pears, & applesauce--he says "mmm" between bites 4. to stick his foot in his mouth, bite off his sock and chew on it.  5. looking at mirrors. He especially loves the bathroom mirror--I turn the lights on and off and he loves to see himself appear and disappear. 6. Sitting up and swinging his arms.  7. splashing in the bathtub 8. riding in the front of the shopping cart, sitting like a big boy! 9. turning the pages in a book--thank goodness for board books 10. rolling around in his crib when he lays down for the night.  We usually find him on his tummy or side now in the mornings. 11. other babies! Will is turning into a giggle machine! Actually it's more like blasting laughs which are even better. Isaac felt a tooth today at church. Pretty soon there will be plenty of pearly whites filling up that giant smile.

Dogs and Milk! Today we went to the allergist. They did a skin test where the nurse wrote some letters on Will's back with an ink pen to indicate which allergen was tested. So, D__ stood for "dog." I wish we would've brought our camera because his back had a total of like 12 letters. Then the nurse took some plastic toothpick like tools, dipped each one in the allergens and poked it onto Will's skin. The pokes hardly phased Will and they didn't draw blood so that was a relief. Then we waited for 20 minutes to see how the skin reacted to the allergens. Two hives appeared. One hive was next to the W__ and the other hive was next to D__. "W" stood for whole milk. I was shocked when the doctor informed us William had a food allergy to milk. She said that would explain why Will would sometimes get a rash when he hadn't been exposed to dogs. So I, the mother, have to limit my intake of dairy foods so Will doesn't get a reaction. Once I do wean hi...

This morning I laid Will in the middle of the living room floor, went to the bathroom and put in my contacts, came back and found him next to the computer desk! I spent some time this morning baby proofing. I concealed the cords, vacuumed the floors, and placed some things higher on the shelves. I just can't believe the time is here for our little guy to be moving around exploring his surroundings...fun and scary. I called some allergists today. I actually talked to their nurses and they gave me different information so I don't know who to believe! One of them said "Well maybe you should take him around a dog again and see what happens." Well a dog licked Will tonight and he got a big red patch on his cheek that spread to his eyelids and chin so that pretty much confirmed it for us that he is allergic. Now we just need to figure out if it's the dog saliva or dog hair or both. Poor William!

Today Will had his 6 month checkup. He weighs 17 pounds 2 ounces and is 26.5 inches long. Each measurement is in the 75th percentile so he's doing very well. Another exciting thing is that he rolled over from his back to his tummy today! It was so cute because after he rolled onto his tummy he rolled to his back and noticed he was right by the closet. While he was checking out the closet door it was like he was thinking "Hey cool! I ended up over here!" I have to call the allergist on Monday. We think William may be allergic to dogs which would really stink because practically everyone in the family (Bickmore's and Garrett's) owns a dog. We'll keep you updated. Other than that he is doing just fabulous and we are so grateful.
