The Nitty Gritty

On Saturday, my niece Lauren was baptized. She looked beautiful. I played the piano for the program. Lauren asked Isaac to perform a musical number. He played his uke and sang "I'll Walk With You".  He  said that the first time he distinctly remembers feeling the spirit in his life was when he sang that song in primary.  My brother, who got to conduct the meeting as Bishop, devoted his remarks at the end praising his wife, Sara, and paid a tribute to all of her hard work and the constant service that she renders as a mother. It was a special occasion. I love occasions like this where the family comes together and feels the spirit and an outpouring of love. After the baptism, we walked over to Sara's parents' and ate dinner. After dinner, Sara's brother began directing a music video. He instructed us to put on a costume and do something crazy when the music started playing. I was completely unfamiliar with the song they were playing and was a little confuse...

It seems like yesterday, I was sitting with him in the nursery to help him get acquainted with the new surroundings. Now he is in primary. Wow, time flies. I would be flat out lying if I said that I love going to church with my kids every Sunday. Much of this has to do with our new schedule of 1:00-4:00. When I tell William it's Sunday, the day we go to church, he yells "No! I HATE church and I HATE primary!" A few weeks ago he entered the church building stomping his feet and swinging his arms angrily proclaiming "I hate church. I hate church. I hate church." We have to bring a bazillion fruit snacks to bribe Will to sit still through sacrament. "If you sit quietly during the sacrament, you get a fruit snack!" "Sit back down or no fruit snacks!" Van was blessed last Sunday. For sacrament meeting we had Favorite Hymn Sunday. That means, whoever wants to, gets up and shares what their favorite hymn is and why and then the congregation sings that hymn. I shared my favorite hymn "I Stand All Amazed" in honor of my Dad, my father-in-law Steve shared his favorite hymn "How Great Thou Art", and Kemp my nephew shared "Called to Serve." I was glad that the bishopric decided to do Favorite Hymn Sunday because it gave members of my family to share their testimonies on a non-fast Sunday. Van was super cute all day and I'm thankful Isaac got to bless him.
