The Nitty Gritty

William was baptized yesterday! Isaac's parents, my mom, Lana & Nellie, and Scott & Karla came for the special day. I was happy that William didn't have to share his baptism with any other 8 year olds in the stake, but I did come to find how much preparation goes into a baptism. Those Utah stake/ward primary presidencies are amazing! William had really been looking forward to his baptism. He invited his best friend, Isaac, Miss Kathy, Mrs. James, Dr. Stauffer, and some friends from the ward--the Heder's, the Wearne's, the Skidmore's, and the Bird's. It was awesome to have our family and close friends there to show their love and support.  The baptismal service was wonderful. William was all smiles the whole time. Nellie and Van were so cute singing "I Am a Child of God". Before we left for the church, Lana was running through the song with them. We had a fabulous fall break! It's always hard to see it end. It was mostly a lazy-lay-around-kind of week. I had plans to clean out and organize closets among other tasks I've been putting off, but reading on the couch was much more enjoyable.  Monday was my 35th birthday! I feel so young, but so old at the same time. It was a great birthday. Isaac and the boys treated me to breakfast in bed. Then Isaac took the boys to class so I could have some time to myself. I exercised which is always my favorite way to begin my birthday.  I talked to friends and family. Isaac bought me a carrot tea cake from Kneaders and a loaf of pumpkin bread. I took a long nap. We ate Papa John's pizza for dinner and went with our friends to see Magnificent 7.  Wednesday, I treated myself to a new look and chopped my hair into a long layered pixie cut. I love it so much and I can't believe I waited this long to do it. It's so easy to style!  Thursday, our family went to the Kart...

William turned 8 on Friday! He has been looking forward to his birthday all month. We decorated the kitchen in a minecraft theme. We hung streamers in the doorway to represent the portal along with balloons and a poster. In the morning, Will was so excited to see everything set up. He was thrilled that I bought his favorite breakfast--- sausage wrapped in a pancake on a stick. He ate it dipped in ketchup. He got two minecraft Lego sets that he had been dying to get-- the desert outpost and crafting box and three minecraft handbooks. He kept saying, "this is the best birthday ever!" He asked me to put his hair in a Mohawk. He wore his happy birthday button he got from Disneyland to school. Instead of going out to lunch, he noticed that the cafeteria was serving macaroni and cheese and wanted to eat at school. He LOVES hot lunch. Isaac and I ate with him in the cafeteria.
