The Nitty Gritty

Hi family! It's been a good two weeks. The boys and I have four more weeks left of school. This is Isaac's last week of teaching. He's scheduled to teach a course in June. He has 40 more pages left to write in his dissertation and then he'll have to revise it. His plan is to defend his dissertation in July. We've had some exciting developments with our condo. Our friends from church want to buy it. We'll know this week if their offer goes through and if they'll be able to proceed with getting our house. We're praying that it works out because then we don't have to stress about getting our place "show ready".   The HOA paid for our new front door. It's funny. We've been complaining about it for three years and finally got around to asking the HOA if they'll replace it.  Our realtor suggested we repaint all the interior walls so once we know if our friends can buy our place or not, we'll discuss painting.  The...

Hi family! We had a great week! I took off Thursday and Friday. Thursday, I went with Van and the rest of Kindergarten on their field trip. It was my first field trip as a parent chaperone. We went to the Vertuccio Farm in Mesa. There's a part of their farm where they grow pizza ingredients---tomatoes, wheat, onions, garlic, oregano, a cow and pigs. The first 30 min we listened to the farmer explain to us how those ingredients are used to make pizza. Then the kids played on all the fun equipment there, we ate pizza, and then came back to school. I'm glad I was able to get a substitute and chaperone because I was the only parent chaperone from Ms. Sanchez's class.  I took Friday off as well and relaxed at home.  Saturday we helped our friends move and then came back and scrubbed our walls to get them ready for painting. The kitchen was a nightmare because the former owners painted right over the grease and grime on the ceiling. We did the best we could to scrub it. We...

Yay! Another week closer to summer break.  It's going to be a busy summer and we're excited to start a new chapter in Missouri! I've submitted my leave of absence. The student teacher on our team is going to replace me.  She'll do a fabulous job. We met with our realtor on Thursday. She gave us a list of what we can do to make our home show better. She's also working on figuring out the price we should sell it for. Last Friday at school, our staff made a video for the students to help them get fired up about their testing. We had a lot of fun making it. The poor students and all this testing--I feel so bad for them. Here is the  teacher video . Isaac is working hard on his dissertation. He is making good progress. He is still teaching his Digital Hybrid Lab three days a week and is also helping the school in Scottsdale with their robot film festival. The festival premieres at the end of this month.
