A Sunbeam!

Here is William posing after his first week as a sunbeam. See the sticker he earned for being so brave? William is now in Sunbeams! It seems like yesterday, I was sitting with him in the nursery to help him get acquainted with the new surroundings. Now he is in primary. Wow, time flies. I would be flat out lying if I said that I love going to church with my kids every Sunday. Much of this has to do with our new schedule of 1:00-4:00. When I tell William it's Sunday, the day we go to church, he yells "No! I HATE church and I HATE primary!" A few weeks ago he entered the church building stomping his feet and swinging his arms angrily proclaiming "I hate church. I hate church. I hate church." We have to bring a bazillion fruit snacks to bribe Will to sit still through sacrament. "If you sit quietly during the sacrament, you get a fruit snack!" "Sit back down or no fruit snacks!" William Kincaid Garrett Oct. 12, 1930- Feb. 4, 2010 Today was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and it was so warm even the ice cream truck came singing down our street. Hilarious! 2 years ago, it was also a beautiful day. About 1:15 in the afternoon I witnessed my dad's spirit leave his body and meet his maker. The sun shone down upon his bed and it was like the heavens opened to greet him. My family gathered this morning at my mom's house for breakfast. We laughed and cried about what we miss and what we remember. We laughed about his skepticism of doctors, the way he couldn't make any sound when he would laugh REALLY hard, how well he could dance, his ability to comfort you when you were sad or anxious, how he always gave compliments, his life stories i.e. when he was fostered by a Jewish doctor during his early childhood, his starring roles in some plays including "Picnic", and tales about his grandmother, Arkansas (Cancy).
