The Nitty Gritty

Hi family! Spring is here to stay! Yipee! We've loved playing outside for hours. This morning I went on a walk before church--it was so lovely and peaceful along the trails.  Isaac has his first technology ensemble concert tonight. I'm looking forward to it! He has been working hard finishing up the semester. He had the second "UkeCM"event at Planet Sub. It was a blast! There were 20 ukuleles for those who didn't have one. Chords were projected on the screen  and we all played and sang along. The week before that, his technology ensemble did a Super Smash Bros tournament at Planet Sub. The ensemble planned the background music. Everyone had a great time. I love that Isaac is bringing the community together in fun and creative ways. He'll be presenting at a conference in Boston at the end of this month and then teaching summer masters courses in June and July. Howdy family! On Thursday it was 85 degrees and today it was 35 and snowed (lightly). Missouri's weather is sooo cray cray! I was loving the sunshine on Thursday. I actually miss the sizzling Arizona sun. The blossoms on all the trees are beautiful. We have two trees in our front yard covered in white blossoms. Yesterday was the Old Drum Festival. It felt like I was in Pawnee, Indiana in a Parks and Rec episode. Warrensburg has a mascot--Old Drum the Dog. Every year they honor him and invite the town to bring their dogs to this event.  There's a reenactment of the trial that started this whole Old Drum tradition. I was looking forward to seeing the trial, but it was freezing and we would have had to wait for forty five minutes. We chose to head home instead. After that we went to my friend's wedding. Hi Family! Happy Easter! Missouri played a good April Fool's joke on us today with a snowstorm!! Ugh! We listened to general conference this weekend. There were so many exciting announcements and changes within our church. We have two new apostles--the first non-white apostles in our church. They are combining the high priest quorum and Elders quorum into one group and they have retired visiting teaching and home teaching. Instead of being assigned visiting teachers, I'll have "ministering sisters". My sister Lana and I have complained for the past few years about how ineffective visiting teaching is. I've especially been feeling it over the past few months. I love helping the ladies on my visiting teaching route, but feel like a formal visit where we just sit and chit chat can be kind of a waste of time. So, with this change, there will be a bigger emphasis on helping each other rather than trying to squeeze in a visit at the last minute just to be able to repor...
