The Nitty Gritty

October is my favorite month! It's my birthday month, I love the fall season, the weather, the beauty, yummy soups, and Halloween.  Will and Van love this month too. Luckily, we got a whole week off together to enjoy our favorite time of year. Here are some things we did during our fall break: The first thing we did was bake pumpkin chocolate chips to enjoy during the week. Van is my big helper. He loves to say "I help you mom!" We took lots of walks around the block. The boys love the Halloween decor and wanted a picture next to this front door with the "Big Spider!" I took the boys to the doctor for their yearly check up. I LOVE this photo. Back in July, Sophie and Curtis convinced me to go to Disneyland with them. I've always been against going because I couldn't justify spending all that money on a trip that would last one day and not be very fun since our kids are still pretty young. However, I justified it in my mind that we should go and use the trip as a way to celebrate our 10th anniversary, mine and the boys' birthdays, and simply because we never treat ourselves to a good time. It all seemed surreal that we were actually going to Disneyland until we were driving into the setting sun (not fun, btw). We decided to surprise the boys and wait to tell them they were going to Disneyland. Will wanted candles in a pile of gummy worms instead of a birthday cake. Ha ha! It's hard to believe our 5 pound baby is now 5 years old! As you can see in the photo below, Will is our Mr. Drama. He loves to walk around like a zombie. When Aunt Kelly asked him what his favorite part of preschool was, he replied "Playing like a zombie in the playhouse and chasing the girls." His favorite color is black. When he brushes his teeth at night, he acts like a skeleton and clicks his jaw. Tonight he told me that we were having Vampire Brains for dinner. He is obsessed with anything and everything that has to do with Halloween. However, he didn't want a halloween-themed birthday. Instead he wanted a Star Wars Angry Birds birthday. We bought him a Star Wars Angry birds set and hid it under a mountain of pillows that he had to knock down to get his present. We also drew the angry birds faces on balloons. He loved it all.
