The Nitty Gritty

This year for Thanksgiving we went to my parents' house in Roy. The dinner guests were us, my brother's family, and my parents so there was plenty of food to go around. I baked two pumpkin pies--crust and all-- which is really good for me seeming how I don't bake very often. My dad was in a lot of pain from a fall he had two weeks ago so we wheeled him out in the wheelchair. Later the grandkids piled on and took a ride on it! It was a very relaxing Thanksgiving. I'm so grateful for my family--Garrett's and Bickmore's! I can't imagine living life without them. I'm especially grateful for my husband and son. We love the new wheelchair given to Grandpa for free from the VA Update on Grandpa Garrett: His fall actually resulted in a broken hip! We had no idea and he was hobbling around for two weeks with it broken. I wince when I think about it. The day after Thanksgiving, he became immoblie so my mom took him to the VA ER yesterday. We finally started bathing Will in the BIG bath. We decided he can't be a baby forever. The ritual here at our house is that Dad gets to bathe Will while I clean up the kitchen. It works out really well for us because by the time Will is dressed in PJs ready for prayers, the dishes are scrubbed and I can relax once Will is asleep. Plus Isaac enjoys the time with William. As you can see one thing he loves to do is toss the washcloth on Will's head. "I love taking a bath!"

My funniest moments as a mother have happened while feeding William. We always joke that he has his dad's genes when it comes to cleanliness because Isaac tends to spill food on his clothes while eating--by pure accident of course. I know it doesn't help that I laugh when Will gets so messy but I can't help it. It really is tooooo funny!! For a while there he would swat at the spoon just as I would hold it to his mouth and food would go flying. He hasn't done that lately, thank goodness. Will loves to smear the food on his tray and all over his head. Yesterday the sunbutter in his hair acted as an effective mousse to hold the curl. Ha! Once he's finished eating he starts chucking his food all over the floor and says "Uh oh!" Two weeks ago Will fell asleep while eating his lunch FOUR days in a row. It was hilarious.

Go Will! Go! Garrett and Trish came with us to the pathway along the river to help Will practice walking. Garrett lent Will his hat and gloves because it was so freakin frigid. I can't believe winter is here! Doesn't he look so adorable?!!

This cool dude is coming home from his mission in about 6 weeks! Will has never met his Uncle Walker and we are pumped to see him. Will decided he is going to be WALKING by the time Uncle WALKER comes home. You can do it Will!

Will loves his cousins! He got to hang out with Cowboy Deacon on Halloween. He tried stealing Deacon's candy but Deacon was good to not let him. So funny! Deacon is happy that Will finally figured out which candy pile is his. Deacon had an itch right when I took the pic! One year ago! Today Christian spent the morning and afternoon at our house. It was too much fun. I took them in the double stroller to the park, they got to sit in their high chairs next to each other for lunch, and Will was having a hay day showing off his toys. Last month our family and our friends the Taylors founded the Down-N-Out Diner. The goal is to feed the homeless once a month. Last night was our first dinner and we were able to feed about 300 men. We planned on feeding 400 so we had plenty of food. The menu we planned was baked potatoes with chili & cheese, fruit, dessert and capri suns. Initially we were way stressed about how we were going to bake 400 potatoes. Then Isaac asked his lunch lady how she makes potatoes for the whole school and she offered to bake them for us! She said she could do it in a half hour. Then we started enlisting for help by making a group on Facebook and sending around a sign up sheet to the ward members. Whatever didn't get filled in we just asked people directly to donate and everyone was more than happy to participate. Within a few weeks we had what we needed.
