The Nitty Gritty

Can they get any cuter? Well, I've finished my first full week of teaching. I feel like a first year teacher again-planning what I am going to teach the next day the night before, overwhelmed, can't get ahead--the feeling of drowning and never being able to reach the surface.  Hopefully it won't take too long to get my bearings and feel prepared and organized. The good thing is my class is ADORABLE and they love to learn! When I gave them their first homework packet, I was expecting them to whine. Instead they cheered. Whenever I announce things like "Time to stop reading" or "Math time is over" they sigh and ask, "Can we read longer?" or "Can we do more math?" Isn't that so cute and hilarious??! I feel like I'm living the scene in the movie Better Off Dead when the students are overly excited about doing math.       This year we celebrated our 10th anniversary! I feel so old. All year I have been trying to think of a fun getaway for just the two of us, but in the end we stayed home and went to dinner and a movie. I had meetings all day and since we just moved there is no one we can leave the boys with overnight.       The good thing about us is we try to make the best of our situations. So, for our anniversary Isaac wrote a song titled "the perfect match". When I came home from work, he sat me down on the couch, handed me a paper with the lyrics typed up in a special font, and sang the song to me. I loved it!  He also bought me a haircut and facial so I could get pampered before school began.       We went to dinner at the India Oven. We looooooove Indian food-- it has so much flavor and never disappoints. After that we saw The Great Gatsby at the $3 theater. It's not a true dollar theater because it's $3 so we call it the $3 theater...

Drawing and anything on a screen are William's two favorite things. Isaac and I love what he comes up with when he has a pen in hand. Here are some of his latest designs: This one is a reproducible that Will colored into a "Vampire Missionary". When we were driving to Tempe, Will was begging to play the iPad so Isaac told him he had to write his name ten times. Number 4 is his name as mountains. Number 9 is "really small" and number 10 is "so huge!" Will and I designed mazes for each other. The maze he drew for me was on the iPad.
