Van's Baptism Weekend

In October, our parents, Lana, and Trish came to Van's baptism! We had an epic time together. We ate good food,  had some Beyblade battles,  played Aggravation, went on long walks, and explored some of Warrensburg. We also got to perform a 45 minute concert, visit Kansas City, and watch the boys in their primary program! It was an unforgettable weekend. 

1. Our gig at the Old Courthouse Music Series
Last spring we sang at the Open Mic night at a local coffee shop here in Warrensburg. Afterward, a man named Eddie Osborne asked if we had about an hour's worth of music and if we would perform at his annual music series at the Historic Courthouse. We said "Sure!"
You guys! It was soooo fun! We scheduled to perform the same weekend as Van's baptism so our family could be there too. The venue was lit only by candlelight. 2. Picking Pumpkins at Buckeye Acres Farm

We love Buckeye Farm! Last spring when John and Lisa came to visit, we picked strawberries. Lisa made a DELICIOUS tart. This time, there were pumpkins to pick! We didn't have time to carve them together, but just being on the farm was fun enough. It's the same place we saw the Solar Eclipse in totality last summer. 

3. Fun at home

Lana and Trish heart attacked my door as a belated birthday present. They told me 37 things that make me an awesome person. They did that for each other back in Utah and it was so thoughtful of them to include me in the tradition during their visit!!!

 When Isaac saw Lana and I snuggling up on the hammock he yelled, "Hashtag Twinning is Winning!"

This is the outdoor garden behind the library at Van's school. Isn't it lovely? Even lovelier are the people standing there!

I'm so glad Nellie could be there! She had so much with Van and Will.

3. Van's Baptism

Van is an awesome kid. I was happy to see him take upon the name of Jesus Christ and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. He was well prepared for this day and was so excited! He was baptized and confirmed by Isaac. Our family got to participate in the program. Grandma Lisa and Grandma Barb offered the prayers. Aunt Lana and Grandma Dana gave the talks. Trish and I conducted the music. Grandpa Steve and our friend Scott Huff were the witnesses. Nellie sang with all of us "My Heavenly Father Loves Me". 

What a good looking group! I felt so blessed having the support of family there. Thank you soooo much for coming out! We love you!

 4. Kansas City

We left a little early for the airport so we could spend some time in Kansas City. We toured Union Station and tried to forget about the fact that the trip was coming to a close and goodbyes were approaching.

 Steve and Dana's flight left later so we got to eat at Fritz's, the train restaurant where your food is delivered on a train. Can you see the tracks above us? Every time we would pass Fritz's we'd say, "Next time Grandpa Steve comes we need to eat here with him!" So, that's what we did!

I can't wait to see my family again next week. I am really falling in love with this sweet town of Warrensburg. I just wish my family lived here too!
