Hi family!
Here is our family update!
Isaac: Isaac's interview went very well. He went to dinner with the search committee Tuesday night. He said he really enjoyed everyone's company. Wednesday, he taught the Intro to Music Methods course, met with the Dean and Human resources, mingled with the students, and did a research presentation. He did very well on his lesson and presentation. When he met with the Dean he explained that the person who is offered the job will be the director of music education and will be teaching 12 credits a semester. The 12 credits include placing and supervising student teachers.
Isaac said he never felt like he was getting grilled. The staff was very nice and they shared some good conversations together. One of the members of the search committee was named Alan Zabriskie and said he was from Ogden, Utah. Turns out he is the son of my Jr. High principal! The education world is so small! He was very helpful showing Isaac parts of Warrensburg and talked to him about raising a family there since his family has lived there for the past 7 years. On Thursday, Isaac and a realtor drove through some neighborhoods. Isaac was pleasantly surprised with Warrensburg. He was expecting it to feel much smaller. He felt safe and felt like it would be a great place for the kids. We've both said that he and I can figure out how to be happy wherever we go, we just want it to be good for the boys. He is supposed to find out by Tuesday if he got the job or not. He also had a Skype interview today with Valdosta State University in Georgia. So, we'll see how things start playing out this week!
Lesley: I had parent teacher conferences this past week. I'm really looking forward to spring break this week and then just one more quarter to go for the 2016-2017 school year! The staff at school has been really supportive of our potential move. They knew Isaac was going to an on-campus interview and were anxious to hear how it went. I can't stop thinking about our future and what it holds for us!
William: William had his Blue and Gold banquet on Tuesday night. He advanced to the rank of Bobcat. I got to stand up with him in the front while he was recognized. Van wanted to come up too. I love the Cub Scoutmaster. She makes it so fun for the boys. William had an excellent report card. He received all O's for outstanding on his behavior. He enjoyed spirit week at school to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday. He's looking forward for me to play his levels that he made on Mario Maker this week.
Van: Van also had a great report card. He had some S's for satisfactory on behavior. He tends to get argumentative with his classmates. That was no shocker. Van enjoyed spirit week too. Monday was hat day. Tuesday was crazy hair day. Wednesday was wacky socks day. Thursday was animal print day and Friday was green shirt day. Each day tied into a Dr. Seuss book. Friday we did a school wide Read A Thon on the lawn. Today we watched Beauty and the Beast. He loves the part when the village gets enraged and marches off to kill the beast. We act it out at home by marching around the house lip syncing with angry faces. I carry the umbrella and he carries pencils for our pretend weapons. We can't wait for the movie that comes out in 2 weeks!

- The sister missionaries ate at our house last night. At one point during our conversation Van said, "Everyone has to have a mom." The sister smiled and added, "And a dad." Then Van said, "This is how I imagine it. He stood up, pointed to his penis and said, "The baby shoots out of the penis and Voom! It shoots into the vagina." We were DYING. We all had tears rolling down our cheeks we were laughing so hard. Isaac noted, "We're really open with our kids. We tell them everything." I added, "As you can see."
- Yesterday we helped babysit our neighbors' two boys so she could pack and move. They are 4 and 1 years old. The one year old was into everything and our house is NOT baby proof. William was getting stressed out because the baby needed constant supervision. I explained that babies like to explore. Then he said with frustration, "I do not want a baby brother. Van is bad enough."
