Wow! A lot of exciting/crazy things happening with our family! Monday morning, 8:00 am sharp, Valdosta State in Georgia called Isaac and invited him to fly out for a campus interview. Two hours later, the University of Central Missouri called and offered Isaac the job position! Since Georgia invited him for an on campus interview, he asked Missouri if he could wait and give an answer in a week or so. Isaac left for Georgia on Wednesday night and came home Saturday afternoon. He'll find out if he gets a job offer tomorrow from Valdosta State. Then, we'll have to decide where we want to move. We're grateful for the opportunities, but super stressed about relocating and making a big move this summer.
Today is our last day of spring break. We decided to stay close to home and just relax. We biked 4.5 miles on Monday, riding to Kiwanis Park and back and 5 miles on Tuesday, riding to ASU and back. The weather was perfect. This is the time of year when Tempe is filled with the smell of orange blossoms. It smells soooooo good. We also hiked South Mountain. The first year we lived here and hiked it, it was way too hot and we all felt cranky. We haven't hiked it since. This time we went first thing in the morning. It felt good to be above the city and get our hearts pumping a little bit. Both boys fell, but they didn't let it ruin their trip. Will has some large bruises on his knees from his fall. Does it sound terrible that it makes me excited to see his knees bruised up? It reminds me that he was outside doing something fun, active, and challenging.
I told Isaac last night that I think this past year in AZ has been our best year. The school year has flown by, the boys are growing much more independent, and Isaac is almost done with his PhD. We'll see what the next 4 years bring.
Overheard at our house:
- On Tuesday night, Isaac and I went to the temple and our friends babysat the boys. They have a 3D television. When we came back, we ate dinner together and watched a movie on their awesome tv. When we put on our 3D glasses to watch the movie, Will said, "You guys are like, from the future." Isaac and I laughed because currently, our tv's screen doesn't work. Our desktop computer broke over a year ago so our movie viewing options are now limited to the laptop.
- Van cracks me up with his speech, "You benember that?" instead of remember, "Doo-wee-jee" instead of Luigi.
- When Van has his meltdowns, he cries, "I'm just having a rough time."
- Will is into scaring all of us. He hides and then jumps out and screams in our face. Van HATES it. He yells, "Ugh! William! Don't do dat!"
- Van loves to play The Mob Song from Beauty and the Beast. He connects the pool noodle to my umbrella to make it like the log that they use in the movie to break open the castle. Then he knocks the door of my bedroom with the umbrella on the part in the song when they bang the doors.
- Our family chant has changed from "Get a job, get a job!" to "Choose a job! Choose a job!"
