San Diego

Since we've lived in Tempe, we've had to adjust being together ALL the time. Isaac and I are both off for the summer and Will and Van don't have playgroups or preschool so lets just say we needed a road trip to get out of the house and not drive each other crazy. San Diego was the perfect getaway because it's only 5 1/2 hours away and we have family and friends there to see and stay with. We spent Friday with Aunt Caroline which was a great blessing because she was able to help me with my  tension headache--chiropractic massage, neck stretching, and ice packs. It didn't get rid of the headache but it definitely relieved some of the pain.  We spent the night in her studio apartment which was quite spacious because we all had enough room to sleep comfortably. The next day we went with her to Encinitas beach and met up with our friends the Gibbs. We ate at Swami's cafe and played in the ocean all day. Will was so brave and tried boogie boarding. One time the wave crashed on his head and he got up out of the water smiling. Van was perfectly content to play in the sand and throw fistfuls of it on his head all day. I enjoyed relaxing in the sun and doing some boogie boarding myself.  That night we went to the Gibbs and swam in their pool. After a long day of fun the kids went to sleep and the adults played Greed. The next day we got to see Jason and Alex and meet baby Nixon. Conveniently, Scott and Karla were there too so it was wonderful to see some of my family members that I don't see often.

Dean made an aquarium in this bucket. It had sand crabs and brine stars. He added a feather and some seaweed to make it seem more like a fish tank.

Me and baby Nixon. He is so cute and kept looking all over the place.

My SIL Karla loving being a grandma. They are very sweet grandparents. It was fun watching them with the baby. I also loved watching Jason and Alex loving on their new son. At one point Nixon was being fussy so Jason held him on his shoulder and sang the song Rainbow Connection. He's such a good daddy!

Hi family! It's been a while since I've done the Bickmore Buzz!! Here's the recap of the last five months!! JUNE: The Leasure's came to visit! It was so much fun! We took some weekend trips to St. Louis and Springfield. We saw the arch in St. Louis and visited the City Museum. In Springfield we did a driving tour of the caverns. Back in Warrensburg we did lots of e-bike rides, lightning bug catching, Minecraft crafting, talent show performing, and runs to Sonic. Sophie came house hunting with us in Kansas City and we found the perfect home. It's just five miles from work! When it was time for the Leasure's to return to Utah we all cried our eyes out.  Springfield Caverns I took a weekend trip to Utah to see my family. It's a rare occasion that all of the siblings are together since Caroline lives in Guatemala.  I also got to meet little Remmi for the first time and finally got to see Wyatt after two years. William Steven Bickmore

Lesley checked into the hospital and she was already dilated to a 5. William Steven Bickmore was born at 1:55 at 5'5"and 19" long. He is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Lesley is a champ she only got the "test dose" of the epidural and she was already at a 9. He has a low blood sugar problem so they have him in the NICU now and they are going to bring his blood sugar up. He is healthy and strong but he is a tiny little super guy. We love him and here is a video of his very first test. I tell ya they are starting to test kids younger and younger.

Dear Lesley, I wish I could accurately describe how in-awe-of you I am. Watching you give birth to Van was an amazing experience for me. In Spanish when a woman gives birth they say she gives light or que ella “da luz”. I think that is a more accurate way to describe what went on and a more beautiful way to describe you and your relationship to my life and to those around you.
