Louisiana
This month we took a family vacation to Louisiana to visit Grandpa Steve and Grandma Dana. We spent two weeks there and had a wonderful time.
In addition to seeing Steve and Dana, we also got to see Aunt Abbey! It was fun seeing how well she is doing and it was fun hanging out with her. Since we flew out of the Vegas airport, we also got to see Great Grandma and Grandpa Bickmore.
We love to see Mike the Tiger at the LSU stadium. This time we went at night when he was up and walking around instead of sleeping in the corner.
August 2nd was our 9th anniversary! We got to celebrate in New Orleans while the boys stayed in Baton Rouge. It was fun to hold hands and stroll through the French Quarter. We ate delicious southern food, devoured beignets, danced to live Jazz music, and walked along the Mississippi River. We also stopped by Congo square in the Louis Armstrong park.
One of the things William was looking forward to was seeing a live alligator. We took the boys to a Gator Farm where they got to pet an alligator, watch an alligator eat, and see alligators crammed together in the smelly barn. The huge alligators are fake, in case you were wondering.
Another thing we all wanted to do (especially me) was go to the beach. We traveled to Destin, Florida and stayed in a condo on the beach for a few days. The weather was mostly rainy and cloudy but we were able to get in a few hours of beach everyday which was perfect. After dinner, we would swim in the swimming pool. I was in heaven! It was my first time visiting the Gulf Coast and I couldn't believe how beautiful it was! The boys had a good time too. Will preferred swimming in the pool rather than the ocean. Van was freaked out by the sand at first but by the end was eager to help with building the sand castle.
The best part about the vacation was spending time together. We played games every night, ate a ton of snacks, and caught frogs and lizards. I had been dreading the humidity all summer. Surprisingly, I loved it and was miserable returning to the dry desert heat. Van was instant sweat ball every time we went outside. It was hilarious. Hopefully we can visit Louisiana again sooner rather than later. I'm grateful we've been able to visit two times. It's always a ton of fun and we hate to say goodbye to Grandpa Steve and Grandma Dana.
