Christmas Letter 2009

Happy Holidays!

It’s hard to believe we are the parents of a 14 month old! It seems like yesterday we were cuddling our teeny tiny newborn. It has been a fun year watching William grow and develop into a vivacious toddler. Is that what he is classified as now? A toddler? Or is he still considered a “baby?” See? There are still many things we need to learn as parents.

William:

Loves balls! He could throw, chase, roll, and whack a ball all day.

Loves Mom! Everything is “Mom! Mom! Mom!” We’re trying to teach him that Dad is not “Mom.” Sometimes he says “dad.”

Says lots of words: mom, up, ca (cracker), sh (shoe), jeez (Jesus), dog, woof, Dad, dis (this), doll (ball), ca vroom (car), woah, wow, HI!, Woo-woo (hooray) Men! (amen) key (cookie) mpa (grandpa) isec (Isaac)

Makes animal sounds for elephant, bunny, dog, cow, horse, and tiger

Signs: more, please, thank you, bath, bye

Points to: mouth, head, eyes

Eats: everything as long as it doesn’t have anything dairy in it.

Laughs when we tickle him, play peek-a-boo, or dance.

Gives kisses and hugs. He loves to cuddle at bedtime and pat our backs.

Crawls, doesn't walk.

Loves to take car rides to the store. He loves shopping with mom.

Loves to read and look at books—We make an effort to attend Baby and Me Story Time on Tuesdays at the library.

Isaac:

Working like mad to finish his Masters thesis by the end of the semester. It’s titled The Functions of Popular Music in the Lives of Adolescents

Loves his job teaching elementary music.

Serves as Primary Chorister and Choir Director.

Sings with the Crimson Four on a regular basis.

Gigs occasionally at the ice cream shop Yellow Snow.

Is the only one that can get a super loud laugh from Will.

Lesley:

Enjoys every second with William.

Tries to be a tidy housekeeper

Finished her masters degree program

Updates the family blog

Attempts to make it to the gym three times a week for kickboxing, Zumba, and spinning, but would like to get there everyday.

Serves in Young Women with the 14 year olds

Loves Target, NPR, and Brianna’s poppy seed dressing.

Bickmore Buzz June-October 24, 2021

Hi family! It's been a while since I've done the Bickmore Buzz!! Here's the recap of the last five months!! JUNE: The Leasure's came to visit! It was so much fun! We took some weekend trips to St. Louis and Springfield. We saw the arch in St. Louis and visited the City Museum. In Springfield we did a driving tour of the caverns. Back in Warrensburg we did lots of e-bike rides, lightning bug catching, Minecraft crafting, talent show performing, and runs to Sonic. Sophie came house hunting with us in Kansas City and we found the perfect home. It's just five miles from work! When it was time for the Leasure's to return to Utah we all cried our eyes out.  Springfield Caverns I took a weekend trip to Utah to see my family. It's a rare occasion that all of the siblings are together since Caroline lives in Guatemala.  I also got to meet little Remmi for the first time and finally got to see Wyatt after two years. William Steven Bickmore

Lesley checked into the hospital and she was already dilated to a 5. William Steven Bickmore was born at 1:55 at 5'5"and 19" long. He is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Lesley is a champ she only got the "test dose" of the epidural and she was already at a 9. He has a low blood sugar problem so they have him in the NICU now and they are going to bring his blood sugar up. He is healthy and strong but he is a tiny little super guy. We love him and here is a video of his very first test. I tell ya they are starting to test kids younger and younger.

Dear Lesley, I wish I could accurately describe how in-awe-of you I am. Watching you give birth to Van was an amazing experience for me. In Spanish when a woman gives birth they say she gives light or que ella “da luz”. I think that is a more accurate way to describe what went on and a more beautiful way to describe you and your relationship to my life and to those around you.
