Look who stopped by for a visit today!

THE GARRETT'S!!

Courtney and Trevor are moving to West Virginia and Sara is accompanying them on the drive. They surprised us in the church parking lot! It was so fun having them over for a bit before they headed back on the road. A Sunday drop in family visit! Dream come true:)

William was approved in church today to be ordained as a deacon to the Aaronic priesthood. He looked so big and so little at the same time when he stood up as his name was read. His main duty as part of serving others as a deacon will be to pass the sacrament.  He's excited to go to the youth activities on Wednesday nights. 

Our church is no longer affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America. We have a new children and youth program. I have to admit, I'm so relieved I don't have to worry about scouts anymore! It was a lot of work. The new youth program follows the scripture, "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man." So, we're encouraged to set an intellectual goal (wisdom), a physical goal (stature), spiritual (favor with God), and social (favor with man) goal. Last week, church was cancelled due to weather so we discussed and set some goals. Will and Dad set some intellectual goals and Van and I set some physical goals. 

Also, last weekend was Isaac's 39th birthday!!! It was also the first snowfall of the season so we couldn't do too much. We did manage to go see Jumanji 2 and eat a pita with Beyond Meat and then homemade cheesecake. Man! Are we ever so grateful Isaac Lamont Bickmore was born! Van, last week, said "Mom, Dad's really nice. He always helps people." Ain't that the truth?!

All in all, 2020 is off to a great start. We're looking forward to a trip to SCOTLAND this summer! Isaac was accepted to present at a conference in Edinburgh. Amelia and her family will be meeting up with us and then we'll spend some time with them in Aberdeen. The last time we saw Amelia in Scotland was when Miriam was scooting around on the floor. Now she's almost 16. So, ya, we are way overdue for a Scotland visit to see our Scottish cousins.

Our 3 day weekend turned into a 4 day weekend. We had an ice storm on Friday so school was cancelled--third snow day this year. I LOVE ice storms. They're so pretty and it's fun to stay home! Yesterday, the ice melted. I took the boys to Frozen 2 and then we ate dinner with the Sentgeorge's.

Overheard at our house:

Friday morning, I was lying to the boys, "Nope, sorry, school hasn't been cancelled. Too bad." Van caught on right away with, "Nu uh mom. School did get cancelled because it's 7:15 and if it was a school day, we'd be up and at 'em."

Courtney was telling William how long and pretty his eyelashes are. He rolled his eyes and said, "I don't care about that because I don't care about fashion."
