The Nitty Gritty

So far our summer has been just swell. The heat is bearable when you have a swimming pool! We go swimming for an hour every afternoon and it's just what we need to refresh ourselves and get rid of the grumpiness the heat brings on.  We are looking forward to our trip to California and Utah. Here are some other things we've done: Making visors at the ward Memorial Day breakfast. Isaac led everyone in the song "America the Beautiful" on his ukulele.   Building Legos. William loves to stage his Legos.  Here is Van's tower Reading books. The library is also the perfect escape when it's hot and boring at home. Movies at the park-- Finding Nemo, monsters University, and Peter Pan Keeping cool with a spray bottle Eating bananas and playing at the splash pad with my friend's little boy. Happy Summer!

 The preschool graduation was wonderful. It's always events like this when we feel really homesick and wish our grandparents and cousins were closer. Nonetheless, that is why I have this blog. I am so proud of William. It wasn't easy leaving his friends in Utah  and going to full day preschool everyday. He especially hated taking a nap. However, we were able to get things sorted out and eventually he grew to love his school experience. His best friend at school was Will. The teachers called the two of them "Team Will". His favorite unit was outer space when they made a giant robot. His second favorite day was when he went on a bug hunt. He used a magnifying glass to find the bugs and then put them in a bug bucket. He had the greatest teachers---Ms. Johnson, Mrs. Smith, Ms. Judy, and Mrs. Tobin. I can't speak highly enough of Ms. Johnson. She is one in a million. Today in church we sang the hymn "As Now We Take the Sacrament". I was especially touched when we sang the third verse: 3. As now we praise thy name with song, The blessings of this day Will linger in our thankful hearts, And silently we pray For courage to accept thy will, To listen and obey. We love thee, Lord; our hearts are full. We’ll walk thy chosen way.  (As Now We Take the Sacrament) Recently, I have had what I consider miracles happen in my life. This has been the hardest year of my teaching career. On top of adjusting to full time teaching after a 5 year reprieve, I was faced with many challenges as a teacher. I felt desperate for a change for next school year. My sister calls me a "go getter" meaning when I want something badly enough, I'll work to make it happen. So, I did what I needed to do in order to get a new job. I obtained my Arizona teaching license after passing some exams and I attended a teacher fair for the local school district. I have m...
